Bryan Kaplan Cast in The Divide
Actor/director Perry King and Left For Dead Productions are pleased to announce the casting of actor Bryan Kaplan in the role of Luke Higgins, the migrant ranch hand who finds himself in the midst of a family in crisis in The Divide. Bryan joins Perry (Sam Kincaid) in the film’s growing cast.
The Divide will be filmed on the authentic setting of a 500-acre cattle ranch in the Gold Rush country of El Dorado County, Calif. Filming is scheduled to begin in August 2015.
“I’m so honored to have been cast to play Luke, a character I fell in love with,” Bryan says. “I cannot wait to start working with Perry and the fantastic cast and crew he is assembling. I’m looking forward to donning the cowboy hat and riding into the sunset. I believe this film will be what Perry has envisioned and beyond.”
A native of New Jersey, Bryan graduated from the British American Drama Academy, while training heavily with New York acting coach and mentor Penny Templeton. He has performed leading roles in a wide variety of film, television, and theatre projects.
Bryan has acted in other recent lead roles in Sucker, Soundproof, Soylent, Cold Feet, and Calling John. In 2013, he performed a London-based one-man show of Hamlet, directed by Julia Stubbs Hughes. Bryan’s starring role in the play EightyThreeDown garnered six Critics’ Choice nominations in New York and compared him to Brando in A Street Car Named Desire. He is a resident actor of Second Skin Theatre Company in London.
Perry spent months searching for the perfect actor to play Luke. He says Bryan Kaplan “was the only actor who jumped off the screen. I could see him in this role immediately and I knew I wanted to meet him.” Perry continues to work with casting director Jeff Passero to flesh out the cast as the start of filming gets closer.
News relating to The Divide has generated enormous interest in the film industry. “I believe this film is going to be something everyone involved can be proud to be a part of,” says Perry.
